My only Saturday at work all year. Sigh. Post up some cool cars for me.

Got to come a few years ago and it was fantastic. I’m really disappointed I won’t be in town anytime soon.

If only it was an actual C&C.

Yeah...but I’m not complaining. Great show on the good days.

I’d still like more of a bring what you’ve got gathering vs a techbro/dirty money devilspawn show off contest - but at the same time, I am not out there organizing anything, so I shouldn’t bitch abd moan :)

What an absurdly negative perspective. It isn’t a contest and it isn’t trying to be a normal cars and coffee, even though it miraculously manages to preserve a lot of that low-key, light-hearted feeling. I mean don’t go if you don’t want to, of course, but sheesh. I’d love to have a typical cars and coffee to go to too, and wish there was one, but it’s also nice to go to a weekly parking lot show where every other car isn’t a poorly executed Civic rice rocket. The daily driven modern sports cars and exotics might still show but a lot of the collector-grade classics would never show up to something like that and risk parking next to a rusty Cobalt, so I’m glad this show exists to bring them out.

Also, I note that the only pricks I’ve ever encountered at this show are either way too old or way too young to be tech bros—they’re the same old guys who act like their stock Corvette or 911 is the hottest shit in the block, or their grandchildren. Most of the tech bro types recognize that they’re lucky to be able to afford their dream cars and are as enthusiastic to check out the other cars and talk about them as anyone else.

I dunno. I live in Bellevue. Along with techbros and dirty parental money devilspawn, I can see every variety of McLaren and Ferrari I want right on the street, not to mention the occasional Lambo, sundry GTRs, dime a dozen Maseratis, higher zoot Porsche or AMG, etc etc. Plenty of stock 911s at the event per my experience, too.

In my eyes, if there’s a car bouncer, it ain’t a cars and coffee, and effectively having socio-economic standards works against that ideal. Even if I don’t embrace their cars, I have no problem with the Civic set and the Mustang spinners and Corvette dads staking their own little claim.

Spend a day in a loop roughly from Bellevue way to NE 8th to Main to 112th or 116th - you’ll get your fill.

Just saying I am more impressed by something like a lovingly maintained Datsun 810 more than a late model Maserati GT (driven by the ubiquitous mysteriously-monied eastside 20 year old).

Me too. But that doesn’t make a show that caters to the one rather than the other bad.

IMO it needs to be touted as an exclusive show, not a legitimate informal gathering or a cars ‘n coffee type event.

The best actual show in relatively recent local history was the old Kirkland Concours (Carillon Point, later moved to LeMay). There was a (charitable) admission fee, but you knew how it was set up, and got to see the real amazing material.

I take it you’ve never been to their website, since they’re extremely clear about that . In any case, beyond the general “exotics and classics only” guidance, it is quite informal: they mostly don’t know what’s going to be there until it shows up.

Exotics@RTC is an informal weekly gathering of exotic and very rare cars that draws owner and spectators together for mutual enjoyment of all things car-related.

...

We wanted E@RTC to remain something special, a destination for car enthusiasts to come and see the cars that are rarely seen in public, the cars that as kids we had only in poster form, the cars we someday dreamed of owning.

...

The Gatekeeper has full control over who and what is allowed in the gate regardless of the criteria here, so there’s no point in calling an emergency parking lot board meeting. Don’t argue with whoever is working the gate, it holds up the line and you won’t win. Think of the children.

I suppose my post wasn’t nearly as clear, but it remains the closest thing to a cars n’ coffee we have.

I’m familiar with the site and the show. Any old 911 or lease spec Ghibli is apparently welcome, and many others are “select”. Someone else’s formal subjectivity can be a dangerous game.

Yeah, putting cars & coffee in the title may be something :) My post might not have been clear either. I snarked that as I am not there organizing a legit c&c (there is/was one in Seattle proper, but data hasn’t been updated in a long time), I shouldn’t complain about it - but you know how that goes.
